2D and 3D payment gateway difference and how do we integrate in e commerce platform?

Payment Gateway?

A payment Gateway service provide to collect the payment from your customer and send to your current bank account with take some service cost (1% or 2%) for each transaction. They will fix the service cost as per your  transaction volume.

2D Payment Gateway?

2 Domain payment transactions are called 2D Payment (Ex: Consumer to Merchant.).  If, an amount is directly transferred within bank accounts with OTP or 2D secure password. You can pay through GPay, TEZ, BHIM, Pay TM, Amazon pay.

2D payment service provider is called 2D payment gateway provider.  Example:-  ( Razorpay,  Cashfree)

3D Payment Gateway?

3 Domain payment transactions are called 3D Payment (Ex: Consumer to Servicer provider/Bank/Visa/Master/Amex to Merchant.).  If, an amount is transferred trough credit/debit payment with intermediate 3D page authentication through OTP/3D secure password.  You can pay through Visa/Master/Amex.

3D payment service provider is called 3D payment gateway provider.  Example:- HDFC BANK , Billdesk, CCavenue

Now day, Consumer integrated both 2D and 3D payment gateways.  We can integrate multiple payment gateways as per our website traffic.

The following pre request require for payment gateway application?

  • Registered company certificate and current bank account details to link payment gateway
  • Ecom Website & website Domain name
  • Payment gateway integration website require following pages with appropriate content
    • Terms of condition
    • Privacy policy
    • refund policy
  • Website development technology ex (PHP and open sources name)
  • Payment send URL details
  • Payment redirect Page URL

Payment Gateway development and deploy procedure:-

Once submit all above requirements to payment gateway provider. They will provide appropriate payment gateway test account (Sandbox) login and API details.

Development team validates API details and integrate with Ecom website for Payment gateway test account.  After complete the development, Dev team send the demo details to payment getaway provider for audit. They will release the live account details after successful audit otherwise dev team to fix the audit issues.  Once get the live account development team change the Test details to live details and made the website live.

Payment gateway Provider finally sent the following details to Consumer

  • Merchant Account (Consumer can login see the daily transaction details )
  • Live payment getaway details for our live website

Approximately 15 to 20 day takes payment gateway integration.

4 to 5 Man days to takes for Development team.
